In recognition of World Intellectual Property Day, the IPR Cell, KSRIDSR organized a program “Feel the Beat of IPR” on 22nd April 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness among budding dental professionals about the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in fostering innovation and protecting creative ideas. The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking lecture by Dr.Sunandha, M.D.S., a registered Indian Patent Agent and Associate Professor, Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College and Hospital, Salem. She provided an in-depth overview of the various facets of intellectual property. The event also featured a creative role play titled “The Idea Stage – Patent Play”, performed by II BDS students to depict the journey of an idea from its conception to the process of filing a patent and managing the problems faced during the process. As a part of the program, a competition titled “Spark to Spotlight – Startup Singam” was conducted, where enthusiastic students from III BDS, IV BDS, and CRIs showcased their innovative projects and entrepreneurial ideas and won prizes. The program was attended by 180 students and 20 faculty members, who found the event fruitful in gaining valuable knowledge on intellectual property protection in the field of dentistry and beyond.
