Oral Medicine and Radiology

Overview

Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is a speciality department which deals with diagnosis, diagnostic methods, oral medicine, oral radiology and medical management of a case.

Oral medicine and radiology is in the curriculum of third year and final year B.D.S course and lecture classes are taken for the same, adding on to this, they also attend UG Clinic for regular postings. UG Clinic is well equipped with dental chairs in good condition for clinical examination and a separate sterilization room for students’ convenience. This is accompanied by three Intraoral radiography machines, four x-ray viewers and a well planned dark room.
Students are guided by the experienced faculty of the department to acquire skill in diagnosing a case, to gain sound knowledge about various clinical conditions which can affect the oral cavity. The students are also guided to take radiographs by themselves. This is followed by a proper training to read and interpret the radiographs to aid in confirming the clinical diagnosis. Clinical discussions and seminars are carried out in the department on a regular basis to further enlighten the students knowledge about the speciality subject. Each and every student of the department is exposed to a variety of cases and are moulded in such a way that they are confident enough to handle any type of a case in their clinics.
