Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics occupies an entire floor. We have a preclinical lab, a clinical department for undergraduates, a clinical department for post graduates, an undergraduate lab and a ceramic lab.

Facilities in the preclinical lab

The lab is equipped with phantom heads, airotor units and micromotor units. Besides this, the students are provided with jaws and teeth. The students work on the phantom to get a feel of working on the patient.

The clinical department for the undergraduate students provides them with material and equipment to make their clinical experience complete. Equipments present in department include apex locators, magnifying loupes, LED light cure units, rotary instruments and R.V.G.


Procedures done in the department include the following:

  • Restorations using amalgam, composite and glass ionomer
  • Endodontic treatment
  • Post and core build up
  • Metallic and ceramic crowns
  • In office and home bleaching procedures
  • Composite veneers

Procedures done by the 2nd years in the preclinical lab include the following:

  • Cavity preparation on plaster models
  • Cavity preparation on natural teeth
  • Phantom work

Procedures done by the 3rd years:

  • Cavity preparation and restoration on patient (amalgam and glass ionomer restorations)
  • Pulp capping

Procedures done by the 4th BDS students

  • Cavity preparations and restorations on patients(amalgam, composite & galss ioonomer restorations
  • Anterior root canal treatment
  • Case discussion
